FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!!

NYC BuskerBall is a one-day celebration of street performance, public space, and human connection.

Taking place in the heart of Tompkins Square Park, BuskerBall brings together musicians, poets, dancers, and performers who share their art openly—without tickets, stages separated from the crowd, or algorithms deciding who gets seen. This is art as it was meant to be experienced: live, spontaneous, and shared.

Throughout the park, you’ll encounter:

  • Featured performers anchoring the day with scheduled sets

  • Interactive exhibits exploring the history and meaning of busking

  • Poetry written on the spot, inspired by passersby

  • Unexpected moments of connection, where strangers meet by chance

BuskerBall also explores how creativity evolves in a changing world. One installation invites the public to engage with an AI system alongside a human poet—highlighting the difference between human expression and machine reflection. This is not a competition, but a conversation: a way to explore curiosity, fear, wonder, and creativity in a playful, non-threatening way. Think of it like Data from Star trek joining us busking with his violin.

Busking has existed for centuries, long before concert halls and digital platforms. It thrives on the element of surprise. You don’t plan to see it—you stumble upon it. BuskerBall honors that tradition by creating a space where art interrupts daily life and reminds us what it means to be present.

No tickets. No barriers. No algorithms. Just art, people, and the shared experience of being alive in a public space in real time.

Come for five minutes or stay all day. You never know what—or who—you’ll encounter.
